3. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1970-1989)

No player in the history of NBA has matched or come within 1,000 points of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s total of 38,387 points during his career.

Kareem averaged 24.6 points and 11.2 rebounds in his career, landing him a record-19 All-Star Game selection in total 20 seasons played. Kareem was a major part of six championship-winning teams for the Lakers and the Bucks. He also ranks in the top 10 of all time of other categories, including winning shares per 48 minutes and value over replacement player. He is arguably the best college basketball player off all time and you have probably got the best full career that any baller has ever had.

4. Wilt Chamberlain (1960-1973)

Killer Stat: 22.9 Rebounds Each Game

As dominant as any individual player has been in a team sport, the 7-foot 1-inch giant Wilt Chamberlain was likely to be unstoppable in his day. Towering over most other players, he managed to rip down 22.9 rebounds each game, a number that might never be matched for the rest of the time.

Besides being the best rebounder ever of the sport, his scoring average of 30.1 points each game is the second only to the points of Michael Jordan, which shows that he can be a one-man powerhouse for the four NBA teams that he ever led. In 14 seasons he played, Wilt Chamberlain was voted an All-Star up to 13 times. The 118 different matches in which he scored at least 50 points is the most ever with 87 more than the points of Jordan, who takes the second.

5. Magic Johnson (1980-1996)

Killer Stat: 11.2 Assists Each Game

Before LeBron James appeared, there might never have been a better player than the Lakers icon Magic Johnson. He averaged about a triple-double for his career, averaging 19.5 points, 11.2 assists, and 7.2 rebounds per night in a 16-year span. He is the only NBA player to put up more than 11 assists each game with his 138 career triple-doubles ranking him the second player of all time, only after Oscar Robertson.
