Top ten most successful teams in the history of NBA (part 1)

Made up of composed of 30 teams, 29 in the US and one in Canada, The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the world’s highest level men’s professional league. Every year, these 30 teams compete for the annual championship series of the NBA- The NBA Finals. The teams who win the Finals are awarded Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. Now let’s have look at the top 10 most successful teams based on the NBA Final appearances, wins, and division titles.

1. Los Angeles Lakers

Let’s start with The Lakers who have many records worthy of the history books. The team have made an incredible 31 NBA finals and won 16 of them, which helps it hold the record for the league’s longest winning streak, 33 straight games. There are 26 Hall of Famers who have played for the Lakers, including some of the greatest NBA players such as LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Wilt Chamberlain, and Magic Johnson. Four Hall of Famers also have coached the team.

On top of their 16 championships, The Lakers have won 31 Conference titles and 23 Division titles. Just these figure is enough to secure them as the most successful NBA Team of all time.

2. Boston Celtics

Playing out of the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division, the Boston Celtics dominance over in the NBA started in the late 1950s. Thanks to their first win in 1957, the Celtics became the greatest win streaks in the history of the league. The team also won eight consecutive NBA championships throughout the 1960s.

However, only winning 2 titles, the Celtics dipped bit in the 1970s. Then in the 1980s, they resurged with another 3 titles in 1981, 1984, and 1986. They most recently won in 2008.

The Celtics have been in 21 NBA Finals and won 17 of them. They also have won 21 conference titles and 22 division titles. All of these figure makes them deserve the number 2 position in this list.
